Mabrouka M'barek

Former Tunisian National Constituent Assembly member, contributed to the new constitution and advised on debt and transparency

Biography

Mabrouka M’Barek is an elected member of the Tunisian National Constituent Assembly (2011-2014). She sat on the Constitutional Draft Committee, which wrote the preamble of the new Tunisian Constitution and the first chapters dedicated to the fundamental principles of human rights. M’Barek sat on the Finance Committee and served as an advisor to former President Moncef Marzouki on debt and transparency.

Prior to her elected mandate, she worked as a finance and IT auditor in the United States. Subsequently, she carried out several missions in support of humanitarian operations in Yemen.

After finishing her public service as an elected member of the Tunisian Parliament, her research interests have focused on the non-partisan examination of monetary policies in support of post-revolution transitions. M’Barek has taught courses on Tunisia and the Arab Spring at Middlebury College.
